A visit to Pleasant Ridge is a true step back in time. Your hosts, Colonel Scottie & Mrs. Tammy Myers, are veteran reenactors and gifted storytellers who bring history to life with exciting and entertaining detail.

Lawyer and planter Tristram Bethea built the home in 1838, combining Federal and Greek Revival elements. It’s brick construction, a rarity in the early Black Belt, was designed to impress. After a series of owners, Pleasant Ridge sat vacant and crumbling for more than 50 years. The home's journey from romantic ruin to authentic restoration became a preservation success story. Today, formal gardens and ancient cedars and magnolias complete the setting, along with a log cabin, barn and other outbuildings. Colonel and Mrs.Myers wish to keep the home true to its period and intend to share their jewel with others
